Why should you use our homemade soaps? They cost more than the soaps you can pick up in the grocery store. What is it about homemade soaps that make them superior to the mass-manufactured soaps you are used to? The benefits are quite simple:
1) We use fresh, top quality ingredients in each bar. Ingredients such as:
Olive Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Shea Butter, Mango Butter,
Goats Milk, Rice Bran Oil, Lard, and Castor Oil.
2) Homemade soap contains natural glycerin, which occurs in the soap making process. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to your skin. Most store bought soaps have their glycerin removed. This is why your skin feels dry and itchy after you use them. The glycerin in handmade soap leaves your skin feeling soft!
3) They are made in small batches with care and pride with YOUR best bathing interests in mind!
4) Our soaps are available in some of the same great scent combinations as our other goodies so you can coordinate the scents. Plus a few soap only blends!
A little history of our homemade soap
In late 2001, Jenn started researching how to make soap, as she wanted to add it to our product line to compliment our candles. She spent lots of time reading and taking notes on how to make soap using the Cold Process Method, or CP for short. Here is how the process works:
During the soap making process, a solution of sodium hydroxide (also called lye) is added to heated oils, butters and/or fats. The mixture is then stirred until it thickens. Next, fragrance is incorporated as well as any other additives (such as herbs, spices, colorants) before it is poured into molds. The molds are kept warm for about 24 hours before the soap is removed and cut. All bars are cured for at least 2 to 4 weeks depending on the time of the year it is made.
Not to worry...a properly made bar of soap contains no lye. Our soap has been thoroughly tested on many eager friends and family members!
Bars average 4.25 ounces for $4.50 each
